On the line/ En la línea
:students from the borderlands
On the Line / En la Línea features striking artworks by student artists from four border adjacent institutions of higher education; the University of Texas El Paso, Universidad Autónoma de Ciudad Juárez, Universidad Autónoma de Baja California, and San Diego State University. Working from the same assignment brief, students created work directly inspired by the exhibition La Frontera, currently on view at The Mingei
International Museum and the Centro Cultural Tijuana. Working in a variety of craft-based media the students explore a variety of issues, both formal and conceptual, from their own perspectives and experience living, working, and studying in the borderlands.
This thematic classwork was developed by Kerianne Quick (SDSU) and Jess Tolbert (UTEP); and implemented with assistance from Cass Adame (UACJ), Adam John Manley (SDSU), Iren Tete (SDSU), Reed Fagan (SDSU), Leslie Shershow (SDSU), Carla A. García Cárdenas (UABC), Christian Moises Zu/iga Mendez
(UABC), and Aleyda Acuña Flores (UABC).
